Inexpensive Ways To Clean Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors are a versatile flooring choice that sees a lot of use in many different spaces from the living room to kitchen to the bathroom. Because laminate flooring can be used in so many spaces, cleaning them can become expensive if you are using pricey commercial cleaners. There are many ways to clean your laminate floor without having to resort to special sprays and mops.

It is true that you cannot use large amounts of water on your laminate flooring. You do not want to soak through the material and have the underside water logged, that will become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. However, you do not have to avoid using water all together. To make your cleaning solution, pour a quarter of a cup of vinegar into a 30 ounce (or similar size) spray bottle and then fill it the rest of the way with water. That’s it!

Now, you only have a spray bottle worth of cleaner because you are not going to saturate the laminate floor. Instead, work on a small area at one time and cover the laminate with a good mist. At this point, you don’t want to use a regular mop, instead, try a Swiffer dry mop, Swiffer cloth, or microfiber pad. Some companies also offer wet cloths to attach to a Swiffer that come presoaked with water and vinegar. Wipe up the cleaner and you should have a streak free, clean laminate floor.

Don’t spend a small fortune on pricey special cleaners and mops -- you can clean your laminate floor with common household items!
