About the Manufacturer - Laufen |
The Laufen Group has a long and interesting history. Its first facility, located in Laufen, Switzerland, began as a brick manufacturing plant in 1892. From that point, the Laufen Group steadily grew and expanded its product line to include bathroom fixtures and eventually ceramic tile.
Laufen established its international presence in 1952 with the acquisition of Incepa SA, a tile manufacturing company in Campo Largo, Brazil. In 1985 Laufen expanded into the U.S. market with the acquisition of International American Ceramics. Ten years later, it enhanced its U.S. manufacturing capability by acquiring United States Tile Company.
In 1999, the Laufen Group itself was acquired by Spain’s top manufacturer of sanitaryware, the Roca Group. The merger of the two created the Roca-Laufen Group, the world’s second largest manufacturer of sanitaryware and fifth largest of ceramic tile.
Laufen’s variety of ceramic products is seemingly endless. With more than 50 categories of wall, floor and decorative tiles, they are certain to have something to satisfy the most discriminating taste.
