About the Product
Capella Hardwood Floors are an innovative flooring product created by Anderson-Tully, one of North America's oldest and largest suppliers of hardwoods. With roots that go all the way back to 1889, no other hardwood flooring manufacturer has worked with wood longer, or understands it better. Anderson-Tully has been managing their own timberlands for over a century. This closeness to the land - a rarity in today's hardwood flooring business - has taught everyone at Anderson-Tully respect for the forest. It's also taught them a thing or two about trees - the way they grow, how they react to different environments, and which ones should be used to create the perfect floor. Without its vast land, raw materials, and lumber experience, Anderson-Tully wouldn't be the hardwood floor experts they are today. And Capella would be just another hardwood floor. A bit of Capella History - In 1889, Anderson-Tully was founded by a group of six businessmen to produce wooden vegetable crates for markets throughout the South and West. Vicksburg, Mississippi, was chosen as the location because of its rich soil, long growing season, and huge tracts of timberlands, along with its proximity to the intersection of the Mississippi River with a major rail line and highway crossing. Over a century later, Anderson-Tully continues to invest in its equipment, people, and timberland. As a result, we've become one of the largest hardwood producers in the United States and one of the few able to cut timber on a sustained-yield basis on company-owned land. The Capella Environmental Philosophy “Treat the land right and it will return the favor” - Because we own the land and resources that go into Capella, it makes sense for us to sustain our forests well into the future. Over the years, Anderson-Tully has instituted numerous conservation efforts - including innovative hardwood forestry practices, prudent wildlife management, and natural regeneration of the land. What's more, Anderson-Tully built one of the industry's largest forestry management departments, consisting of graduate foresters and wildlife biologists who manage our forests. It's an environmental philosophy you won't find at many hardwood floor companies. As a result of Anderson-Tully's strict environmental policies, Capella Hardwood Floors meet the certification standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the toughest in the industry. From forest to floor, in nature and in homes, Capella is the superior choice.
Our Opinion
The 3/4” Series is very unique product available only by Capella. With this product you get the 3/4” thickness of a solid wood floor with a much higher level of stability. Various factors explain why engineered wood floors outperform solid wood floors: • Their multi-ply construction reduces twisting and cupping. • They handle seasonal changes with less stress and movement. • Because the best wood is used only on the face, engineered wood floors use forests more efficiently, with less impact on the environment. • They acclimate faster on the job, and this reduces construction time. • Solid floors have poor qualities such as crookedness, insufficient strength, limited availability, and numerous defects. Capella hardwood flooring is by far one of the best quality wood floors we have seen. It is definitely the hottest new wood flooring product on the market and we are proud to be the Internet’s authorized dealer for this line. As you have read the company goes back over 100 years and they are extremely sensitive to the environment. There are several features that give Capella wood floors such high rankings with us. The first would be the thicker wear layer. Capella uses a wear layer that is slightly thicker than some of the other manufacturers. This obviously translates into a longer lasting floor. Another feature that we really like is Capella’s DIAMONDPLUS™ finish. Capella's unique DIAMONDPLUS™ finish combines real diamond dust with aluminum oxide to give Capella its superior wear protection and scratch resistance. Unlike other aluminum oxide finishes, DIAMONDPLUS™ has a flexibility component that's more resistant to movement. So even under the most stressful conditions, Capella stays beautiful. When it comes to product construction, Capella has a patent on their process. Only Capella features Verti-Bond,™ a patented process developed by Anderson-Tully. After trees are carefully selected, layers - including a thick top layer - are cut. Then the top layer and layers beneath it are stacked cross-grain to guard against expansion and contraction. The stacked layers are now bonded together with the unique Verti-Bond process that glues together each ply vertically, end-to-end, and horizontally, providing patented 3-way strength. This process forces the boards to become one, producing an engineered floor as solid as it gets. In fact, Capella's construction is so stable and resolute, it requires minimal acclimation time before installation. That means it doesn't have to sit around your home for a week adjusting to the humidity like solid wood floors do. For quality, durability, appearance, and especially best value for your dollar, we rank Capella hardwood floors as one of the best we carry. Before you buy any comparable wood floor, we highly suggest you take a look at this line. We are currently offering samples of this product.
