Ceres Floors Are All Green

Ceres "Green" Flooring

"PVC-Free Flooring." Ceres Flooring’s tag-line says it all when it comes to the company’s primary mission. Ceres is fully committed to "promoting environmentally intelligent flooring solutions that improve the performance of buildings, while preserving our earth’s environment for future generations." Ceres maintains its proud membership in the USGBC, as well as ISO 14001 and 9001 certifications.

Ceres Flooring’s product line is also a clear reflection of the organization’s ideals. The company focuses on only five product lines: Natural Cork (a line of richly patterned tiles and floating planks), Bamboo (on the same brochure page as the cork, the bamboo is an engineered veneer product), Recycled Rubber (Ceres’ utility flooring, made from SBR recycled tires and other post-consumer rubbers), Sequoia Plank (a PVC-free, wood-alike, mineral-based flooring), and WELS sheet flooring (also a PVC floor, of course, but a seamless product).

The cork flooring products come in two lines, "Classic" and "Cobble Walk." The Classic set is offered in a natural light cork color and a peppercorn black, but the Cobble Walk set is available in a wide array of colors, ranging from a bright off-white to a rich coffee-brown. The bamboo veneers come in two basic beige colors, and are offered in long floating planks.

The recycled rubber flooring tiles that Ceres offers are a unique set of almost thirty boldly colored selections. Most of the styles include bright yellows, greens, reds and purples on multi-colored, flecked fields, yet Ceres includes a number that are made up of neutral hues. The rubber flooring, according to Ceres, promises to lessen the impact on the people who walk on it, merely by virtue of its material. But because the flooring is made from totally recycled tire and other rubber, the impact it has on the environment is remarkably low as well.

The Sequoia Plank collection includes twelve colors of engineered floating veneer planks, ranging from the brightest white, to a rich and dark walnut brown. Ceres boasts the material’s extremely low impact on the environment, saying that their Sequoia planks use 38% pre-consumer recycled content.

Ceres Flooring is a company committed to going green and staying green, with regard to their manufacturing standards. They say they’re "PVC-free," but that’s just the beginning.
